Does Cognito have an ADHD program?

We are proud to offer a full program to treat ADHD. Our program includes:

Pre-diagnosis online assessment.
Preliminary intake consultation with a Nurse Practitioner.
A full ADHD assessment with a Nurse Practitioner.
Upon positive diagnosis:
○ Prescription faxed to the pharmacy of your choice (medication costs are not included in this program).
○ Follow ups with a Nurse Practitioner.
○ Two 30 minute ADHD coaching sessions a month.
Self-directed online courses.
Daily affirmation text messages.

What is Cognito?

Cognito is a Canadian online mental health service. Cognito treats mild to moderate anxiety, depression, insomnia, and ADHD.

The Core Mental Health Program (Anxiety/Depression/Insomnia) includes:

A clinically proven mental health assessment with a Nurse Practitioner.
Online visits with a Nurse Practitioner.
Two online visits with a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Care Provider - every month.
Prescription medication delivered to your door.‍

Who can use Cognito?

Cognito is for British Columbia & Ontario residents who are 17+ years of age who are suffering with symptoms of anxiety, depression, insomnia, or ADHD.

Who may not benefit from Cognito?

People with one or more of the following conditions may not benefit from Cognito:

Addictions and Substance Abuse
Bipolar Disorder‍
Eating Disorders
Gender Dysphoria
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Past or Current Physical Abuse
Active Suicidal Ideation

How much does Cognito cost?

Cognito's Anxiety/Depression/Insomnia program is $129 per month and the ADHD program is $169 per month.

Do I need multiple subscriptions if I have multiple conditions?

Cognito will treat and manage mild to moderate anxiety, depression, insomnia and ADHD, you do not need to have multiple subscriptions. During your intake sessions with the medical and CBT Care Provider we will work collaboratively with you to determine how to treat the relevant conditions.

Does Cognito service all ages?

At this time, we're only servicing 17 years or older.

What is the minimum time commitment to Cognito?

There's no minimum time commitment or contract. Cognito is a month-to-month service and you can cancel at anytime.

Can I cancel my ADHD subscription at any time?

Yes, absolutely. We understand that circumstances can change, and you have the flexibility to cancel your ADHD subscription whenever you feel it's necessary. When you decide to cancel, simply log into the Cognito Portal and cancel under the billing section. Additionally, if you choose to cancel your ADHD subscription, we can provide you with a clinical summary that outlines the details of your ADHD care during your subscription period. This summary can be utilized for your records or presented at any walk-in clinic for reference. There is no cost associated with receiving the clinical summary; it is provided as part of our commitment to your well-being and continuity of care.

Is Cognito safe and secure to use online?

Yes, here at Cognito we take privacy very seriously.

We use secure and encrypted software to ensure the utmost privacy and security of all our information.

Can my insurance cover the costs associated with Cognito?

Some insurance companies may provide partial or entire coverage through health spending accounts (HSA).

When did Cognito launch?

We launched early 2021 and have been actively growing since!

Why did we launch Cognito?

Our founding team recognizes that the Canadian healthcare system does not effectively treat mental health patients. Through our experience working in the Canadian healthcare system, we're constantly seeing a lack of mental health resources for Canadians and ever extending waitlists for mental health services.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Cognitive, as in examining the things we think, and behavioural, as in examining the things we do, CBT is a goal-oriented style of talk therapy that addresses thoughts, beliefs and attitudes which in turn affect your feelings and behaviours.

Is CBT a mandatory part of the program?

Yes, our program at Cognito Health is fundamentally rooted in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), an evidenced based psychotherapy beneficial for anxiety, depression, insomnia and ADHD. To ensure clients receive the full benefits of our program, active participation in CBT is a foundational requirement. By embracing CBT techniques and strategies, participants can engage in meaningful self-discovery, develop coping skills, and work towards achieving their therapeutic goals.

What is a CBT Care Provider?

A cognitive behavioural therapy care provider (CBT Care Provider) at Cognito Health helps guide clients to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, insomnia, and ADHD with helpful CBT tools. CBT Care Providers focus on cognitive behavioural therapy tools to challenge thoughts, emotions, and behaviours which help improve emotional regulation, unwanted behaviour, and troubling thought processes.

Although our CBT Care Providers are not Registered Clinical Counsellors, we ensure they have high educational experience in psychology and counselling to best provide you with cognitive behaviour therapy tools to improve your symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and/or insomnia.

Can my provider fill out medical forms?

Approved forms can be filled out by your medical provider and can take up to 3-5 business days. It is best to submit them in PDF form to hello@getcognito.ca. Some forms may require an appointment.

How do medication refills work?

All medication refills are done by appointment only and should be booked 5-10 business days (at minimum) prior to your prescription running out.

What is covered by the monthly cost?

The monthly fee charged by Cognito covers the following:

A clinically proven online mental health assessment.
A screening visit with a Nurse Practitioner.
Online visits with a Nurse Practitioner.
Two visits with a CBT Care Provider to receive cognitive behavioural therapy every month.
The cost of prescription medication* and delivery.
Self-directed online courses.
Daily affirmation text messages.
Consultations with a Pharmacist.

What should I do if I feel that my CBT Provider is not a fit?

If you find that you are not connecting or resonating with your current CBT provider, please communicate your concerns with us at hello@getcognito.ca. We understand the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance, and we are committed to finding the right fit for your needs. You have the option to request a different provider, and we will work together to facilitate the transition.

Can I request a new CBT Provider that fits my schedule?

Yes, absolutely. If scheduling becomes an issue with your current provider, we are here to help. You can request a change, and we will explore alternative options that better align with your timing preferences. Your satisfaction and progress in therapy are our priorities, and we want to ensure that the scheduling works for you.
